The site consists of five acres surrounded on three sides (north, east and south) by the Corte Madera Ecological Reserve and on the westside by Shorebird marsh owned by the Town of Corte Madera. This Eco Reserve has a large population of endangered Clapper Rails. The site consists of tidal marsh along the south side, seasonal wetlands that have developed on fill, and upland habitat. The site is owned by developers who have been interesgted in developing for about 20 years. They have not developed to date for various reasons including access, funding, and land use issues with the Town of Corte Madera. If we are not able to work out an acquisition, they will pursue development now.
